If this was after the IoP buff, then he was technically correct. IoP + Shatter can do a large amount of damage (IoP by itself exceeds the degen cap). However, it would be "smarter" of him to just cover IoP with another hex and then reapply it. It doesn't heal if you reapply it.
(Little tip: IoP + Phantom Pain + Glimmering Mark can typically kill in 1 spike....however you have to actually be good at the game to do it right. It's really funny to kill turtles in FA/JQ while a monk is trying to prot it. )

I think it was after the update. Don't get me wrong, I do like Illusion of Pain (used it as my icon in fact). But why would you use that if you're just going to remove it? It has to be the worst hex you could use in combination with Shatter Delusions.
He could have used Web of Disruption for instance. That's got some nice synergy with Shatter Delusions as it casts quickly.
Never tried that combo Karate, but I imagine you're right. Probably wouldn't kill a non-squishy though I'm guessing.

Doesn't matter if they're non-squishy or not. IoP's damage is armor ignoring and GM typically hits for at least 19dps at 10 Air (unless they're a Ranger and then it's typically just 10-15ish). So, that's around 45-49 damage/second (-10 pips, 10dps from IoP, 15-19dps from GM).
Phantom Pain is just for the deep would and a cover hex. But, like I said, their armor doesn't matter. As long as they have 600hp or less, you should be able to kill them in 1 spike (if they heal, then you just reapply IoP and cover it again. It's pretty loltastic).

Also a stupid thing: runners and runnees who think they can report people for running scams
ProTip to them: ArenaNet doesn't support your actions and if you get scammed, whether you're the runner or the person being ran, ArenaNet isn't going to take action - it's your fault for doing something they don't want you doing.

Ever heard of Frag Spikes? Go be bad somewhere else.
(DPS kills are usually still considered "spikes". IoP and GM do dps. Gtfo.)

Tried your concept, Karate Jesus. Worked quite well. If you managed to put all three on them, unless they had decent self-heal or some sort of hex-removal, they were dead in the water (most ran away and died lonely and in despair).
Made a few warriors angry though, but with Storm Djinn's Haste and Whirlwind, they were easily taken care of.

Actually, one of my favorite things to do is go into ra/ab/fa/jq or something, and say something to the effect of 'omg why is my ursan not working' or 'why can't I use consets??'. It's loltastic. It would be funnier if I actually carried ursan into pvp, but I'm not that mean.

Stupidest thing I've heard in GW:

Nvm you're right. It heals if removed prematurely. That means the description is quite misleading. It should be "when this hex ends.. bla bla" not "after 10 seconds".

For your stupid failure of an attempt to humiliate a completely logical post, I'll do the honors and save a spot for you.
Seriously, try to not be an arsehole against someone who isn't one.

If you check either wiki you will see that healing occurs when the hex ends, not after 10 seconds, meaning hex removal early will actually heal the target.

This one's quite cute. I was in an argument with this guy and he said this:
"I'm stanist, and I will put a curse on you"
"satanist*"
What a lame, empty, pathetic attempt to scare someone over the internet.
